MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - Linél Engelbrecht made it two out of two at the weekend.
The first race in the Southern Cape Spur MTB Schools League and the third race in the Madibaz MTB XCO League were hosted at the Oakhill High School Sports grounds in Knysna.
The track, prepared by Alton Bunge from Knysna, is of national standard and impressed all the participants attending both days of racing.
Linél picked up where she left off after winning the SA Duathlon Championships recently. The strict training programme she has been following quickly showed her competitors that she was going to be a hard act to follow on the fast-paced, technical 3.8km track.
She immediately stamped her authority on proceedings by having excellent starts and then ultimately storming off in the lead. She went about setting a commanding lead and lapping some of her competitors.
Both days saw her post the fastest lap times of all the women participants. Her win in the Madibaz race guarantees her the series with only one more to go.
The resounding victories definitely place her as one of the top youth female cyclists in South Africa.
