MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A Mossel Bay CrossFit athlete achieved amazing results in two worldwide virtual competitions last month.
Luwellen Marx (53) took part in the Crossfit Masters' League Open 2023 in the age 50 to 54 division last month and came second.
If one goes to the www.mastersleague.com.au/leaderboard-2023/, one finds Marx's name and second placing in the 50- to 54-year group. Clicking on his name then takes you to a page with his various results.
Also last month, he took part in the Global Crossfit Open 2023, in which all athletes, from age 16 to 54, must lift the same weights.
Marx came in the top 10 in the African continent in his age group, 50 to 54, and fifth in South Africa. He came a remarkable 309th overall out of 16 000 athletes from around the world.
Selected to compete
From these results, Marx has been selected to compete in the 2023 Masters' League Games, taking place in New Zealand in October.
Marx, an Extension 8 resident, has been a CrossFit athlete for six years.
