MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Barcelona Hall in Extension 23 upgrade project took time, due to other projects, such as housing, taking preference.

This indoor hall has been renewed, restored and now provides the opportunity for community members to connect with one another and for athletes, coaches and administrators to hone their skills.

Three sports clubs have indicated their interest in using the facility, at the indoor sport centre in Sampson Street. They are the Mossel Bay Basketball Club, the Ikhaya Sports Academy and a fitness club, Booty Camp.

Creating an outdoor sports facility in the adjacent open space is also in the conceptual phase. This may include groundworks to create a more suitable area for playing football. The project is, however, budget dependent.

The Mossel Bay Municipality, as part of its GROW strategy, has a focused approach towards social regeneration.

Providing facilities and opportunities for communities to practise sports and enjoy recreation is at the core of this strategic goal.
