MOSSEL BAY GOLF NEWS - Once in a blue moon the ladies' committee allows the girls to choose their own partners for a competition.
They usually pull the names out of a hat, thus encouraging various people to play together, who might perhaps not normally match up. This is good for the camaraderie which has always been a positive aspect of the ladies' section of our club.
Last week we made our own choices, and some made very good combinations.
Of course there is always friendliness, albeit with certain rivalry, which generates a good post-game discussion over a few cold beverages.
Laetitia Higgs (who has been in good form lately) and Gail Botha set of first and one could tell by the eagerness with which they awaited the results, that they had set a good target.
Happily for them they managed to pip any competition, ending first with 43 points. It was a close call, as Dawn Wessels and Gloria Greyvenstein trailed them by one shot (that short putt I missed). Third place went to Kim de Klerk and Bronwyn Powell, who counted out Rosie Gerber and Hettie Bruwer to fourth place, both with 41 points.
Hannelie Borchardt nabbed a nearest the pin.
Winners of the ladies' golf competition. Standing, are: Hettie, Bronwyn, Kim, Gloria and Laetitia. Seated, are: Rosie, Dawn and Gail.
