MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Although South Africa's top-ranked golfer and the pride of Mossel Bay, Louis Oosthuizen, lost in the quarterfinals of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, he still topped the top 10 leaderboard.
The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play took place at Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas from 25 to 31 March, when 64 of the world's best players competed for their part of the $10.25 million purse.
Oosthuizen lost his quarterfinal game against Kevin Kisner (USA), who eventually went all the way to win the Match Play championship, pocketing $1,745,000.
Oosthuizen and all the other players who lost their quarterfinals, walked away with $315,000 each
The SA top golfer has been grouped alongside Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, American Kyle Stanley and An Byeong-hun of South Korea.
Payouts for those who didn't win their group stages, pocketed between $108,429 (Gary Woodland) and $50,750 (Jason Day).
Finishing on a tie five with Sergio Garcia (ESP), Tiger Woods (USA) and Kevin Na (USA), the top four players who outplayed the tie five bunch, are Kisner (USA), Matt Kuchar (($1,095,000 - USA), Francesco Molinari ($712,000 - ITA) and Lucas Bjerregaard ($574,000 - DEN).
