The theme for the day was Bright and Beautiful.
The morning started with registration and delicious eats supplied by the Mossel Bay ladies and the golf club. The format for the day was a betterball stableford with a shotgun start.
And so it came true: the terrible weather prediction of strong winds and rain became real. The golfers persisted and held up in the winds of 50 kilometres per hour, trying their best.
Unfortunately, the weather made the game very challenging and with about six holes to go, the competition was declared unplayable due to the extreme winds and rain.
The players were then treated to a delicious lunch in the golf club where the tables were beautifully laid.
The prizegiving was changed to a lucky draw for all prizes as some of the ladies' scorecards blew away in the wind and the 18 rounds could not be completed.
A huge shout out of gratitude goes to all the sponsors. We could not have done it without you. Thanks and respect to all the ladies who embraced the weather and circumstances and still enjoyed the special day.
It was a splendid sight to see 112 lady golfers together.
"Hopefully, next year we can try again and we will see all of you on our lovely course," says Christa Jonker of Mossel Bay Golf Club.
