Of the better known ones, 'drive for show and putt for dough' is probably one of the more accurate, as well as one we hate to hear.
Nothing is more frustrating for a person who hits the ball a veritable mile, than to be outplayed by someone who plods away and then merrily sinks a 'hallelujah' putt to claim the hole! This is obviously something that happens often enough to have provided the impetus for the aforementioned idiom.
Ina Swart obviously enjoyed her putting last week, on greens that had most of us all pulling our hair out. I am told that she not only putted well, but had an all-round good game... must have been to come in with an excellent winning total of 39 points.
Annette Pretorius' 33 points was next best in the silver division.
In the bronze division, Dawn Wessels also had a great game scoring 36 points. Edie Edwards obviously also enjoying the lightning fast greens carded a credible 35 points and in third position was Annemarie Luggen (32). Shirley Presley managed the only two club for the day.

The winners of the ladies golf: Shirley Presley, Edie Edwards, Annette Pretorius, Dawn Wessels, Ina Swart and Annemarie Luggen.
