MOSSEL BAY NEWS - How can it be that we are entering the sixth month of the year and almost halfway to summer?
But before we start thinking about that, captain Magda reminded us all at a prize-giving of a number of events coming up in this busy, bustling month of June.
Please diarise 18 and 19 June, when the Southern Cape Women's Golf Mid-Amateur Championships and Seniors Championships will be held
on the Mossel Bay Golf course. Entries close on 13 June.
Then there is the popular Winter Mix four-ball alliance on Thursday 23 June, so ladies start sorting your partners: one lady with three men.
Our very first competition for the month of June was the monthly medal and putting competition, always referred to as "the true test of golf" and there was a good turnout for this.

Magda did the honours and warmly welcomed all present, with a special welcome to Joan Zietsman, whom we have not seen for some time, and Jodie Duminy, who is on varsity vac.
- Silver Division: Jodie Duminy on an excellent gross score of 75 nett 68 and second Ina Swart on nett 74.
- Bronze Division: Catherine Bell nett 70 and second Leoni de Beer nett 71
- Copper Division: Rosie Gerber nett 76 and second Magda Kaltenbrau nett 80 on a countout from Marietjie Oosthuizen.
- Individual Stableford competition was won by Julie de Jager on 34 points.
- Nearest the pin on the 15th: Joan Zietsman.
It will be interesting to see what the log position for the Gloria Cup will be after these scores have been tallied!
The singles knock-out and doubles knock-outs are forging ahead and a number of matches have been played, so hopefully we will finish it in the required time.
