GOLF NEWS - On Thursday, 16 February, the ladies of the Mossel Bay Golf Club had a Spar Valentine's Mix competition in the format of a fourball alliance with three scores to count. Despite bleak weather predictions of rain and wind, it turned out to be a pleasant day with a bit of wind as the golfers reached the last few holes.
They had a full field of 112 players, all dressed in something red for Valentines Day and were set off with a shotgun start at 09:00.
"We are very thankful for our sponsors who made the day even more enjoyable as some of them provided some "refreshments" at certain holes. A huge thank you to the sponsors that made our day so special," one of the ladies, Christa Jonker said.
The results are:
- First on 122 points: Shirley Greig, Rob Muller, Diana van Staden and Niekie van Staden.
- Second on 120 point: Johan Stipp, Martin Smith, Steve Basson and Ena Stipp.
- Third on 120 points: Chris Wagener, Alda Wagener, Mandie van Heerden and Louw van Heerden.
- Fourth on 118 points: Peter van der Zee, Chantelle Grard, Gabriel Smith and Bronwyn Powell.
- Fifth on 115 points: Nico Marais, Annette Pretorius, Corné Marais and Wiekus Pretorius.
- Nearest to the pins: Rob Muller on hole 4, Nelis Steyn on hole 8, Martiens Mulder on hole 12 and Gert Pieterse on hole 15.
In the fourth place were Peter van der Zee, Chantelle Grard, Gabriel Smith and Bronwyn Powell.
In the fifth place were Nico Marais, Annette Pretorius, Corné Marais and Wiekus Pretorius.
The winning team of Shirley Greig, Rob Muller, Diana van Staden and Niekie van Staden.
In the second place were Johan Stipp, Martin Smith, Steve Basson and Ena Stipp.
