FOOTBALL NEWS - A late second-half goal from Siphosethu Sidumo helped Raul Stars secure a 2-1 Safa Eden Regional Men's League victory against the Dysselsdorp team Moonlight on Saturday afternoon, 4 March, in Dysselsdorp.
All the goals were scored in the second half. Raul Stars are battling their way up to the top ten from the relegation zone. After playing twenty league fixtures with five victories, two draws and thirteen defeats, they are fourth from the bottom.
The home side, Moonlight, is working up toward the top five after collecting 30 points in 20 games played.
The Dysselsdorp side has won eight games, played six draws and were defeated in six games.
Raul Stars defenders kept their shape from the start of the game, blocking the offensive play from the home side. Raul Stars' mid-fielders were controlling the game and creating more scoring opportunities. However, no goals were scored in the first 45 minutes of the game.
The second half saw both teams chasing the game with the visitors looking very positive on the ball. Raul Stars received a penalty after a strong attack and Thulani Zakade scored the first goal of the game to make it 1-0 with a world-class spot kick.
The home team, Moonlight, came back strongly and managed to break through to score an equalising goal. The Thembalethu side launched an attack with their wingers in the last minutes of the game and the sensational right-winger Siphosethu Sidumo netted the beautiful winning goal for Raul Stars.
