GARDEN ROUTE FOOTBALL NEWS - Peace Makers Football Club started the year by winning both of their matches this past weekend.
They beat De Rust United 9-0 and Infantry (SA Army) from Oudtshoorn 2-1. Peace Makers played with only 11 men for 60 minutes after one of them received a red card early in the game against the Oudtshoorn team.
Peace Makers kept pushing and Luvo Makhamba scored the late winning goal.
"We have a good chance of winning the Southern Cape league this season, with the good players we currently field," says club spokesperson Lewellyn Brown. The club won the league last in the 2015-16 season.
This weekend they travel to George to take on Young Pirates and Diego Masters, both from George.
Peace Makers will be looking to scoop six points from both games. Peace Makers are second on the SAB League Eden Region log after Moonlight FC. Black Cats are in third place.
