Irish says that 10 of the 17 contracted players are behind the motion after “exhausting the internal grievance processes” and it is the “only step we have left” as it is clear the former Proteas spinner does not have the full support of his squad.
Former Proteas team director Paddy Upton was brought in by the Western Cape Cricket (WCC) Board as a mediator after several players, including seniors, filed a formal grievance regarding Paul Adams. However, Irish says the Western Cape Cricket Board did not implement Upton’s correctly.
