Semenya's family backs her ahead of Friday's race

NATIONAL NEWS - Caster Semenya’s family say they’re behind her all the way as she prepares for the women’s 800m semifinals in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.

Semenya cruised through her heat yesterday and her family in Moletji village where she grew up were glued to their screens as she completed the run in under two minutes.

Her cousin Kgabo Sekgala says he’s happy Semenya has shown the world what she’s capable of despite the negative reporting around whether she should be allowed to compete with women at the Olympics.

"We pray to God to give Caster power to win and we are happy [for her]."
