MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Local triathlete Bonga Nkqintiza will be competing in the Isuzu Ironman South Africa African Championship in Gqeberha on 30 March.
He will be teaming up with former professional triathlete and multiple champion Matt Trautman, who is now his coach, and Paul Ingpen, Triathlon magazine editor and Cape Tri Series founder, to raise funds for various charities across South Africa under the Ironman4theKids celebrity teams banner.
The 30 March triathlon consists of a 3.9km swim, 180.2km cycle and a 42.2km run.
Nkqintiza, who was the first Mossel Bay resident to cross the Ironman 70.3 triathlon finish line in 2023, came 46th overall that year, in a time of 4:50:48.
In November 2024, the third year the Ironman 70.3 was held in Mossel Bay, Nkqintiza came 23rd overall and finished in 4:41:47.
Nkqintiza has about 10 challenges he has lined up to compete in this year. These are national and international contests.
