MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A major interschools athletics competition is being held on Friday and Saturday, 2 and 3 February, at the Van Riebeeck Stadium in Mossel Bay.
All the primary schools in the greater Mossel Bay area are taking part.
Large number of schools
The competition is being held over two days because of the large number of schools involved.
The schools have been divided into sections A, comprising 10 schools, and B, comprising 12 schools.
On Friday the section B schools compete and on Saturday, the section A schools.
Regional athletics
The teams chosen from each of the sections on Friday and Saturday will compete in the Mossel Bay regional athletics meeting on 17 February at the Van Riebeeck Stadium.
Successful athletes from that meeting will then go to the Eden athletics competition for schools. Friday's and Saturday's meetings comprise the first round of the interschools athletics meetings.
Hosts
Friday's athletics meeting is being hosted by Ridgeview Primary School and the organiser is René Booysen, a staffer at Ridgeview, and Saturday's meeting is being organised by Lionel Kennedy of Erika Primary School.
