MOSSEL BAY NEWS - While several towns and metros around South Africa this week still grappled with forming coalitions, following the local government elections on 1 November, the newly-elected Mossel Bay Mayoral Committee was already hard at work on Monday, 15 November.
The team was elected on 10 November during the council's first official meeting.
Mossel Bay was the first town or city in South Africa to inaugurate its council and mayor.
The executive council members serving on the mayoral committee are:
- Executive mayor, Alderman Dirk Kotzè;
- Finance - Councillor Mark Furness;
- Community Services - Alderman Niklaas Booisen;
- Planning and Local Economic Development - Alderman Cliffie Bayman (executive deputy mayor);
- Infrastructure - Councillor Anton Dellemijn;
- Community Safety - Councillor Leon van Dyk;
- Corporate, Governance Services: Councillor Nickey le Roux; and
- Speaker - Alderlady Venolea Fortuin.
