MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The 2019 elections will take place on either May 8, 15, 22, or 29, while the final voter registration weekend will take place at the end of January, Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) chair Glen Mashinini has announced. President Ramaphosa is expected to proclaim the date of the election in February, Mashinini said.
The final voter registration weekend before the elections will be on January 26 and 27. The voter registration weekend allows new voters to register and voters already on the voters' roll the chance to change their details if necessary.
Voters will have to provide their address or a description of where they live, but documented proof of address is not required, he said.
Editorial policy
Considering that the national election is about six months away, the Mossel Bay Advertiser will not entertain any party politicking in the run-up.
As usual, all local political parties will be invited to provide their manifesto for use in the edition of the Mossel Bay Advertiser directly before the election.
