NATIONAL NEWS - Applications for the University Fellowship Programme are now open to all 1st year University students.
The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation believes that entrepreneurs have the power to bring about positive change and opportunities in an ever-shrinking job market.
The foundation is therefore encouraging all 1st year university students with entrepreneurial potential and ambition to apply for its University Fellowship Programme.
The programme aims to ensure that the next generation of change-makers have the necessary support, skills, mindset, and tools needed to further develop their entrepreneurial skills and become high-impact responsible entrepreneurs.
The University Fellowship Programme is an exciting opportunity for successful applicants, known as Candidate Fellows, to receive training and development to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, as well as receive funding for their university studies. In addition to financial and academic support, the programme also offers 360 degrees entrepreneurial training and mentorship.
The foundation has 11 partner universities across five provinces including the Western Cape, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Free State. Applications for the Fellowship Programme opened on 10 August and closes on 30 September 2021.
Criteria for 1st year students:
Currently studying towards a degree in Commerce, Science (excluding Medicine, Veterinary Science and Dentistry), Engineering, Law or Humanities and Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS); University of Johannesburg (UJ); University of the Free State (UFS); University of Cape Town (UCT); Nelson Mandela University (NMU), Rhodes University (RU); the University of the Western Cape (UWC); Stellenbosch University (SU), the University of Pretoria (UP), Tertiary School in Business Administration (TSiBA Education) or University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).
- Minimum of 65% average in the 2021 June exams
- Applicants must be under the age of 22 in the year of their application.
- South African citizenship and proof of academic registration in 2021.
