NATIONAL NEWS - A home owner shot dead a suspected house robber at a home in Lakefield, Benoni yesterday morning.
Colonel Martin van Nieuwenhuizen, acting Benoni SAPS station commander, said the two home invaders entered the property on Divot Street at around 5am.
They entered the house by removing the burglar proofing.
The acting station commander said the resident woke up and confronted the two suspects inside the house.
“He (the home owner) said: ‘get out of the house’, and they just ignored him,” said Van Nieuwenhuizen.
The resident retreated and recovered his firearm.
One his return, one of the suspects approached him with a screw driver.
