Judgment due in SABC journalists' case

NATIONAL NEWS - Judgment will be handed down this morning in the Labour Court in the case involving four of the eight dismissed South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) journalists.

Trade union Solidarity, which represents them, says it is confident of victory in the matter.

Jacques Steenkamp, Krivani Pillay, Suna Venter and Foeta Krige were fired after they voiced concerns over the public broadcaster's decision to ban visuals of the destruction of property during protests.

The SABC has since rescinded its decision following a recommendation from the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) and a court challenge by the Helen Suzman Foundation.
