A statement from the Cableway operators on Friday said that the maintenance included “a haul rope change‚ the cleaning of the ropes and slack rope tests‚ switch and bearings renewal‚ servicing of the main gearbox‚ generators and backup generators‚ as well as general electronic component changes and control checks”.
“Maintenance is completed yearly in order to meet the highest global cableway standards set by the Swiss Governing Body for Cableways‚” the statement said.
The cable car will also has a new look aimed at getting tourists to look further than the usual spots on their visits.
Visa’s #NotATourist campaign‚ which was developed to encourage the sharing of local knowledge‚ has prompted a change on the design on the exterior of the cable ‚ which now “features Table Mountain’s ascending contour lines and hiking trails‚ to encourage visitors to see the mountain from a new perspective”.
