The run, which was listed No 8 on Jayde’s bucket list of things to do before she turned 30, will take place on Saturday morning.
The proceeds will go towards care packages for abuse survivors.
The event has been organised by Lynne Holdsworth, 45, of Tootsie and Beau Online Clothing Shop, and Natasha van Zyl, of Parkrun.
T-shirts branded “Run for Jayde: Bucket List No 8” will be sold at the palm tree in front of the Hobie Beach Yacht Club, where the run will start.
The shirts were specially designed by Tootsie and Beau designer Kelly Sweet, at Van Zyl’s request, to pay tribute to Jayde.
The run is free to anyone willing to take part.Proceeds will be used to make care packs to be distributed to rape crisis victims at the Uitenhage police station over the festive season.
“Anyone can take part. There is no obligation to purchase a T-shirt,” Holdsworth said.
More than 1 000 runners have signed up for the event on Facebook, with 50 T-shirts already sold.
“I have met so many kind-hearted people in our city who have rallied together to support the cause,” Holdsworth said.
The event is intended to be a surprise for Jayde’s family, who are away on holiday.
