NATIONAL NEWS - Hoekwil resident Daniël Janse van Rensburg, who has been imprisoned in a notorious jail in Equatorial Guinea (EG) since September 2013, is on his way home.

His wife Melanie has confirmed that her husband has been released after he was detained.

A powerful EG local demanded R1-million for Daniel's release, but it is not known if this (ransom) money was paid.

Daniel was held in Black Beach Prison after an aircraft brokering deal with EG president's brother-in-law, Gabriel Mba Angabie, turned sour.
