NATIONAL NEWS - Ajay Gupta's lawyer has written to Parliament disputing allegations levelled against him by Eskom’s suspended head of legal Suzanne Daniels.
A few weeks ago, Daniels told the Public Enterprises Portfolio Committee that she attended a meeting with Gupta where the utility's former CEO Brian Molefe's legal problems were discussed.
The committee has been hearing testimony about the alleged influence of the Guptas and their associates over the state-owned power utility's executives and board.
In a letter drafted on behalf of Gupta, Goitse Pilane details his client’s whereabouts on 29 July - the day Daniels claims the now infamous Melrose Arch meeting took place.
Pilane has sent MPs a copy of Gupta’s passport, flight records and a screenshot of a YouTube video which apparently shows his client was attending a religious festival in India that day.
