GEORGE NEWS - A businessman from George was attacked and seriously injured during a home invasion in Heatherlands on Saturday morning, 20 April at about 11:00.
According to information the victim was at home alone at the time of the incident as his wife and children had left the house earlier that morning.
After entering the house from the back garden, the victim found the suspect in one of the bedrooms with an iPad in his possession.
A fight ensued and the suspect hit the victim over his head with a wooden rolling pin.
The rolling pin broke, exposing the metal pen that holds it together. Not giving up, the suspect then proceeded to stab the victim with the metal pen. The victim sustained serious stab wounds to his head and neck and was hospitalised.
The suspect tried to flee on foot, but his freedom was short-lived since he was apprehended minutes later by neighbours who had heard the commotion and hurried to the scene to assist.
