MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Department of Corrections yesterday, 22 July handed out a face masks to those in the community who are vulnerable to contracting Covid-19.
Staffers of the Mossel Bay Youth Centre and Community Corrections distributed the face masks in KwaNonqaba to assist the elderly.
The masks were hand sewn by inmates and were accompanied by information leaflets on how to wear a mask and why it is an important safety measure against contracting Covid-19.
The Mossel Bay Youth Centre and Community Corrections regularly reach out to the community, and annually hosts memorable Mandela Day projects. This year however, projects had to be put on hold.
The handing out of the masks this week, said a DCS spokesperson, was part of their acts of kindness towards celebrating the legacy of Nelson Mandela.
