Chandré September and Jenesto Jansen, past pupils of respectively Sao Bras and Hillcrest Secondary School, died on the scene at approximately 02:00, while two more occupants, Damian Mentoor en Leveil Elms, who were travelling in a Honda Civic, sustained serious injuries.
Both Chandre and Jenesto were passengers in the Honda. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf, sustained slight injuries.
It is alleged that the Golf was travelling at high speed along Louis Fourie Road, when it collided with the Honda in the intersection of Louis Fourie and Mayixhale Roads.
According to eye witnesses, the people involved in the accident were friends who knew each other well.
One of the passengers, Miss J France, was treated in the Mossel Bay Hospital and was discharged on Saturday. The two drivers, Sibosiso Madela and Mr Elms, have both, as a matter of procedure, had their blood alcohol levels tested, but the forensic results have not as yet been released. The KwaNonqaba Police is investigating a charge of manslaughter.
News of the accident spread like wildfire on social media, where friends and family expressed their shock at the news. Condolences with the family poured in from all sectors of the society.

The back part of the Honda were torn clear of the rest of the vehicle. The two deceased were passengers on the back seat of the Honda. The driver and another passenger of this vehicle sustained several lacerations and injuries, but managed to escape with their lives.
