MOSSEL BAY NEWS FLASH - According to reports just received from a reliable source, a number of workers were evacuated off the PetroSA FA Platform after an electrical fire that had left the rig with emergency lighting only.
The Mossel Bay Advertiser is awaiting a full media statement from PetroSA in this regard.
It was, however, learnt that a worker had yesterday afternoon worked in an electrical control room. A fire had started in this control room, the cause of which is as yet unknown.
From feedback it seems this worker had suffered injuries. A nearby female worker, who had witnessed some of the commotion, had to be treated for trauma.
A number of the rest of the workers had since been evacuated.
More information will follow as soon as the formal statement is received.
