MOSSEL BAY NEWS - After extinguishing a fire at a residence in the 7de Laan informal settlement in KwaNonqaba on Friday 17 April, emergency services discovered the body of a man, Vuyani Mblonhlo, on the scene.
According to Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, spokesperson for the KwaNonqaba Police, the incident took place at about 19:40 on Friday evening.
The police and the Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management teams were on the scene. The victim’s body was discovered soon after the fire was extinguished.
Kapp told the Advertiser that the authorities could not positively identify Mblonhlo at first due to the severe burns to his body, but they received the confirmation afterwards.
The KwaNonqaba Police have opened an inquest into the matter and the investigation to determine the cause of the fire is currently under way.
