GOURITSMOND NEWS - An out-of-control wildfire has been reported in the Gouritsmond area, north of Gourikwa Reserve this afternoon, 17 February.
According to the Garden Route District Municipality, two helicopters from the Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC) were activated within the first hour of ignition to conduct initial aerial suppression, supported by ground teams.
It said the wildfire is currently out of control.
The municipality said structures in the area were under threat, prompting a rapid response to prevent or mitigate the spread of the fire.
"Stakeholders currently on the scene include firefighters from the Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) Fire Services, Hessequa Fire & Rescue Services and Albertinia volunteers," said the municipality.
