MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay resident, Jim Mayixhale (89), also known as "Oom Jim" died in the Bay View Life Private Hospital on 7 August. His family says he died of natural causes.
Jim was known for his work in the South African Police Service (SAPS) and worked as a police officer for 42 years.
He lived in Mossel Bay since 1950 and worked at the Mossel Bay police station as a Sergeant after starting in the police force as a labourer.
He was known for his hard work and loyalty toward the SAPS.
Mayixhale Street was allegedly named after Jim's father, Charlie Mayixhale.
Jim leaves behind seven children and ten grandchildren. His wife passed away in 2001.
He will be laid to rest on Friday 14 August. The family will gather at his KwaNonqaba house at 09:00 and will then proceed to the Mossel Bay Cemetery.
