MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The KwaNonqaba police and KwaNonqaba Community Policing Forum, assisted by the newly created neighbourhood watch, have been highly effective in spreading the message against anti-immigrant sentiments in the greater KwaNonqaba area.
A joint operation was hosted at the kwanonqaba MALL and in the vicinity of the KwaNonqaba Police Station.
"South Africans are well known for their hospitality and spirit of Ubuntu. Unfortunately, a handful of people at times show intolerance towards foreign nationals - conduct that cannot be condoned.
"For this reason zero tolerance of xenophobia and specifically initiatives to prevent intolerance [of foreigners] formed the basis of the Human Rights Day drive by the KwaNonqaba police and CPF.
"We thank the members of the neighbourhood watches who selflessly participated in the event on 30 March. We should all remember that we may all at one time or another be regarded as a foreigner," the KwaNonqaba police spokesperson, Sgt Kapp said.
The team distributed pamphlets and engaged with members of the community.
The chairman of the KwaNonqaba CPF, Edgar Ntebe, invited the community to join the local neighbourhood watch groups to help fight the scourge of crime that often leads to frustration.
