MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Remember that the Seabird and Penguin Rehabilitation Centre (SAPREC) is right on Mossel Bay's doorstep and one can visit the centre to see the seabirds.
It is based at Mossdustria, off the N2, in the direction of Cape Town.
SAPREC is a respected NPO, which works in conjunction with scientists, vets, the state and marine centres to treat and rehabilitate seabirds including the endangered African penguin.
The centre is open daily, except for Tuesdays and Friday mornings. Visiting times are at either 08:45 or 13:45. Visits are only allowed at these times, so that the birds are not disturbed all day. The cost is R60 per adult and R40 per child.
Booking is essential, because SAPREC prefers to keep groups small.
SAPREC is reliant on donations from businesses and the public. For more information and to support this worthy cause, contact Carol Walton (082 364 3382).
