MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Local Football Association selected its best U15 boys and girls teams to participate in the highly anticipated annual FNB Football First Soccer Festival, which recently took place in George.
Forty players were identified to showcase their talent; however, the festival was not without its challenges.
Boys teams
The Mossel Bay U15 boys first team went up against the Knysna boys, starting the day off strong with a win of 3-0.
However, their luck changed by the time the final game against the George team came around.
It proved to be a difficult match for both the George and Mossel Bay teams, as neither managed to score a goal during regulation time.
Despite an opportunity for the Mossel Bay boys to win the game on penalty shoot-outs at the end, the game concluded in favour of the George team.

Girls teams
Mossel Bay's U15 girls team was just as unlucky in their final game against the George team.
Similar to the Mossel Bay boys team, the girls started on a positive note after besting the Hessequa girls 2-0, before heading into the final game against George.
Both the Mossel Bay and George teams found themselves battling to secure a goal throughout their game, relying on penalty shoot-outs to determine the winner.
The Mossel Bay girls were unsuccessful, unfortunately, much like their male counterparts.
According to Monde Dlamini, one of the festival's organisers, the FNB Football First Soccer Festival aims to develop and support football in five rural areas, namely in Umtata, Pietermaritzburg, George, Thohoyandou and Kimberley.
"Through this festival, we are shaping young players in the hopes of changing their lives and the lives of their families," he said.
