MOSSEL BAY NEWS - In an effort to raise funds for the sake of conservation in Great Brak River, Louis Massyn (75), the first person in history to complete 50 Comrades Marathons, will join Scott Thomson, chairperson of the Great Brak River Conservancy, in celebrating endurance.
The event will be held at the Bioscope Venue at 5 Charles Street in Great Brak River at 18:00 on 7 April.
Massyn, who is a George resident and holds 10 silver Comrades Marathon medals, and Thomson will the regale attendees with two stories of endurance: one human, the other environmental.
Thomson will be speaking about the Great Brak River’s environmental history and its future.
All proceeds from this event will go towards the conservation work carried out regularly by the conservancy.
This includes clean-ups of the areas’ greenbelts, riverbanks and estuary, the upkeep of the station gardens, the removal of alien invasive plants from around Great Brak and protecting the area’s biodiversity.
