MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Sea turtle hatchlings are washing up along the coastline as a result of adverse weather conditions.
The Stranded Marine Animal Rescue Team (S.M.A.R.T.) reports that almost 40 loggerhead hatchlings have been found during the past two days between Struisbaai and Plettenberg Bay.
In Mossel Bay too, hatchlings have been found and transported to the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town, where they receive expert care. Loggerhead turtles are critically endangered.
People are advised to not return the hatchlings to the sea and to contact S.M.A.R.T. (072 277 4715).
