MOSSEL BAY NEWS - One fortunate Dana Bay resident enjoyed three particularly special sights while standing on the deck of her home on Saturday evening, 18 January.
She saw a caracal, two honey badgers and a comet.
Monica Wolmarans said she had gone on to the deck of her home in Dana Bay at about 19:30 to take photographs of a comet, C/2024 G3 Atlas, when she spotted a caracal on the road below her.
"I don't know who had the bigger fright, me or the caracal," said Wolmarans with a laugh.
"I just looked at it, and it looked at me and then it darted into the bushes in the green belt on the other side of the road.
She said that after that, still preparing to photograph the comet, "The sun was just setting, when I saw the two honey badgers in the road. It was amazing."
Wolmarans said she had been living in Dana Bay for three years and had not seen a caracal or honey badgers before that evening. And to top it all, she saw the comet and was able to capture some images of it.
