MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The United Nations declared 25 July World Drowning Prevention Day. In commemoration of this day, the Mossel Bay Surf and Lifesaving Club hosted an awareness campaign including simulations of potential drowning situations, the medical care needed and also what to do following a shark attack on 24 July.
The NSRI Station 15 also added their expertise to an informative day that took place at Dias Beach. Members of the Mayoral Committee, Councillors Leon van Dyk (Community Safety) and Anton Dellemijn (Infrastructure Services) attended the demonstrations.
Dias Beach is known for its rip currents that poses a big threat to swimmers. The Mossel Bay Municipality prides itself in an excellent relationship with local lifesaving clubs as well as the NSRI.
