MOSSEL BAY NEWS - About eight Mossel Bay women have started beautifying a portico near Die Poort swimming area at the Point, using mosaic.
The have started with a pillar in the middle of the portico and plan to mosaic all the walls around the pillar. The area is rather dark and dank, so the mosaic will liven it up.

The brightly coloured mosaic fish which have been completed so far, are colourful and cheerful. They glow beautifully in the late afternoon when a light in the portico turns on.
Swim together
The women know one another because they swim together in Die Poort in the morning, even in winter, or they do yoga together.
Speaking on behalf of the mosaic team, Hester Bosman said: "We started the project about two months ago.
"We're not sure when we will finish - 18 months to two years' time probably. It's a huge project. We're doing it tile for tile and we are all volunteers."
She said the fun part of the endeavour was that none of them were professional artists, only amateurs. They obtained the necessary authorisation for the project from the municipality.
They usually work from about 09:00 until 13:00 during weekdays.
If you would like to donate mosaic tiles and broken crockery which could be cut into tiles, drop them off during that time.
"We would also welcome a bottle of Old Brown Sherry," Hester said with a laugh. "It gets cold here, doing mosaic in the winter."
