MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Following an article in last week's Mossel Bay Advertiser about a lecturer allegedly making an offensive remark to a student regarding his hair, South Cape College was contacted to find out the progress with its investigation into the complaint.
The student claimed the lecturer said he would be a "perfect candidate for the Clicks advert".
The national Clicks chain store advert made headlines last month.
This week South Cape College Mossel Bay campus student Sonwa Mbandezi told the Advertiser he was not happy with the findings of the investigation undertaken by the college.
He said the investigation was completed and he had asked to see the results of the investigation and that he had met college management in person and had been given a letter from the college about the investigation. He told management he was not happy with the outcome.
After speaking to Mbandezi, the Mossel Bay Advertiser contacted the college and asked for comment on the outcome of the investigation.
In a statement the college indicated the investigation was still under way, not completed: "An investigating officer has been appointed to investigate the complaint. Once the investigation is finalised recommendations will be submitted to the principal, Elsie Potgieter, for further action.
"The college staff disciplinary policies and procedures will be followed during each step of the case. We appeal to all stakeholders to allow the college sufficient time to thoroughly investigate and resolve the case, which is viewed as a very sensitive and serious matter that requires due consideration."
