According to her grandfather, Abel Mabaso, his grandchildren returned to school, where Imkhitha's older sister, Sinovuyo, participated in sport in the late afternoon.

The officer commanding KwaNonqaba Police Station, Lt Col Johann Braaff, is adamant that drivers should pay closer attention to the numbers of children in the street, especially in the KwaNonqaba and Asla Park areas.
"Children in this area do not have parks or playgrounds to play and as a result, will often be in or by the side of the road. It's typical of a child to run after a ball or to carelessly cross the road.
"Drivers are adults. Adults should think ahead, anticipate danger and pay attention to the very real problem posed by pedestrians and animals by the side of the road," he admonished.
Col Braaff added that all children are very dear to the police and the community.
The investigating officer is Wo Errol Barnard. Anyone with information on the incident may contact him on 082 411 9680.

On Thursday morning, his mother realised that her child was no longer breathing.
The investigating officer is Sgt Geoffery Moos.
