MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Residents of ACVV Kenani senior citizens' complex had an exciting surprise on Mandela Day, Wednesday 18 July, when they received "lucky packets" and cupcakes.
This was thanks to the generosity of Mossel Bay's South Cape Petroleum staff.
Three cheerful SA Petroleum representatives, financial manager Ewoud Lotz, finance assistant Diandi Jacobs and administration officer Marelize Puren handed out the cupcakes and surprise packs.
Many smiles, hugs and kind words were shared.
Ewoud shared a Bible scripture and a quote from Nelson Mandela with the residents, which dealt with the theme of caring for others before self. Ewoud pointed out that Christ gave his life for mankind. "He gave first, while we were still sinners." He encouraged everyone in attendance to live by that example and put others first.
The quote from Mandela, which Ewoud shared was: "For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."
