MOSSEL BAY NEWS - In preparation for the holiday season, a mass patrol was held by over 50 members of the Mossel Bay community on Friday evening, 13 December.
Organised by M Sec Security, in conjunction with Lower Town Neighbourhood Watch (LTNW), 28 vehicles and a total of 52 people gathered at the Mossel Bay Police Station to begin the mass patrol at 20:00 that evening.
The mass patrol included officers from the Mossel Bay Police Station, municipal law enforcement, Skorpios Security, Fidelity ADT, the Mossel Bay Central Improvement District (CID) non-profit organisation and Unic Security.
The LTNW's newly-elected chairperson, Suzette O'Brien, said the purpose of the mass patrol was twofold:
1) To assure citizens that the law enforcement team is a force to be reckoned with.
2) To show criminals what they will be up against, should they attempt to break the law.
"In addition, the exercise creates a stronger bond between the various role players in security, making our town a safer place in which to live," said O'Brien.
