KNYSNA NEWS - Police have confirmed that a security guard was killed during an armed robbery that took place in Knysna CBD earlier today, Saturday 26 June.
According to national police spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili the robbery took place mid-morning, at 'about 09:45'.
Muridili further confirmed that there were two security guards collecting cash from a supermarket at the Woodmill Lane Shopping Centre.
"Information gathered on scene indicates that the driver was inside the vehicle when his partner returned," Muridili said. "He heard a noise and when he went to investigate noticed two men fleeing with the cash and he found his partner fatally wounded."
Muridili added that the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI, Hawks) and crime scene experts have been combing the scene for evidence.
"No arrests have been made yet and we are appealing to anyone with information to call Crime Stop number 086 00 10111."
There is also no indication yet according to Muridili as to which vehicle the suspects were driving, or in which direction they fled.
