The head of SAPREC, Carol Walton, says: "This is a terrible situation, where the scammers are telling people to donate money. People should rather use www.saprec.org or SAPREC Instagram."

SAPREC Facebook page hacked, fraudsters ask for donations

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The South African Seabird and Penguin Rehabilitation Centre (SAPREC) Facebook page was hacked.

SAPREC is a non-profit organisation operating at Mossdustria, outside Mossel Bay.

It is volunteer based and does extensive work, taking care of seabirds including the endangered African penguin.

The head of SAPREC, Carol Walton, says: "This is a terrible situation, where the scammers are telling people to donate money."

SAPREC had 4 000 followers on its Facebook page. Walton says SAPREC has created a new Facebook page, SAPREC Mossel Bay. The previous page, which was hacked, was SAPRECMB.
