Update Video
GARDEN ROUTE NEWS AND VIDEO - The wildfires in the Ruiterbos area between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn are still keeping firefighting crews busy.
The north-eastern flank of the fire remains active and uncontained, and the area is inaccessible to ground crews.
A reconnaissance flight was conducted earlier this morning to assess the extent of the spread.
Parts of this area are obstructed by indigenous forest in the ravine; however, aerial water bombers will be deployed in an effort to prevent adverse winds from pushing the fire through these sections.
The Pine Grove plantation is situated immediately to the south-east.
The north-western flank, immediately adjacent to Robinson Pass, is contained, and ground crews are actively wetting and mopping up the area.

The southern lines are being patrolled and verified. Current cool weather conditions are expected to assist firefighting efforts today.
Stakeholders on the scene include GRDM Firefighters, CapeNature, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Cold Stream Timbers, Working on Fire, and the Southern Cape Fire Protection Association.
