MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A brave group of Round Table members and their supporters faced the cold head-on at this year’s Polar Plunge at the Point in Mossel Bay on Friday 17 July.
The event is hosted annually by Round Table Mossel Bay 32 and forms part of Round Table Southern Africa’s Winter Knights campaign.
The goal? A jump into ice-cold water (in this case the Point tidal pool) to raise awareness, as well as donations of food, clothes and blankets for those in need during the cold winter season.
They were extra brave, taking the plunge at around 20:00 the evening, long after the winter sun’s feeble warming effect on the water had faded.
This year had an impressive turnout of jumpers, including members of the NSRI, local swimming group the Santos Seals, the St Blaize Leos, Round Table George 30 as well as Mayor Dirk Kotzé and cllrs Anton Dellemijn and Leon van Dyk.
