MOSSEL BAY NEWS - After closing its doors yesterday, Friday 11 September, due to the unexpected death of its owner, Justyn Squires (52), the Anchor Restaurant in Bland Street, Mossel Bay, reopened this morning, 12 September.
Squires was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Louis Fourie Road near Da Nova, Mossel Bay, during the early hours of Friday morning.
According to a post shared to the restaurant’s Facebook page, the accident occurred after a suspected medical episode while Squires was driving, although this has not been independently confirmed.
“Justyn will sadly be missed by all his family and friends,” reads the post. “Our hearts are broken.”
A spokesperson for the Southern Cape Police, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, says the accident occurred at around 00:20 on Friday.
Emergency services responded to the scene and found Squires with serious injuries, and declared him dead soon after.
The Mossel Bay Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
Mossel Bay Advertiser has attempted to contact Squires’ family but has not yet received a response.
