MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Hot weather is predicted for Mossel Bay next week, with a high of 31 degrees Celsius expected on 1 February.
Fishermen, boat owners and swimmers are advised by the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) to be careful and take measures to ensure their safety when spending time in or around the ocean.
No drowning fatalities were reported during the December holiday season.
Mossel Bay NSRI station commander André Fraser says: "Be cautious in and around the sea."
More than a rescue service
The NSRI is a volunteer organisation that is on call 24/7.
Its mission is to save lives on South African waters. More than a rescue service, it educates communities and strives to innovate and constantly evolve and extend its water safety initiatives through empowerment and visibility.
NSRI members are trained for at least nine months before they can qualify to join rescue teams.
Anyone who needs the NSRI's assistance can contact the emergency number (082 990 5954).
