MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Residents and visitors are cautioned to remain safety-conscious during the summer holidays. Unfortunately, criminals are not on vacation.
Valuables that can easily be traded are the opportunistic criminals' preferred target.
The Mossel Bay Community Policing Forum, members of the SA Police and the various neighborhood watch groups are already deploying foot patrols, riders on horseback and even quad bikes on various beaches to enhance safety. Horse patrols will even take place after dark on some beaches.
The CPF has secured a sponsor and continues to fund daily foot patrols on the popular St. Blaize hiking trail.
The neighborhood watch groups and CID guards will staff a Kiosk at the Point as of tomorrow, Friday 13 December until the end of the holiday season to offer help and advice where necessary.
However, the responsibility for safety and security remains with the individual.
Listen to the advice and tips of neighborhood watches, the SA Police and municipal law enforcement officials.
Do not relax your vigilance just because it is a holiday.
